The AMA declared addiction a disease in the 1950's. Since then, we have learned that it takes the work of entire communities to bring about a cure to those afflicted by it. Transforming Youth Recovery (TYR) is creating and bringing together innovative and sustainable recovery communities to enhance success for young people struggling with substance use disorders. Through these community initiatives, we support educators, parents and community members in helping those in recovery thrive. Our evidence-based approach brings real-time, real-world experience to educate the public about substance use disorders and recovery, and to erase the social stigma that blocks youth and their families from seeking help. The goal of TYR is to mobilize local community coalitions and assets into relevant recovery programs, practices and public policy and to fund studies focused on discovering and promoting the very best. Resources from both private and public sectors are essential to funding our various initiatives and accelerating the rate of change in how we support with recovery in the United States.

"The generosity of donors like you not only keeps TYR alive, but keeps hope alive for children struggling with high risk factors leading to substance use disorders." - Stacie Mathewson
